Winter-proof, self-sufficient Hymer T 654 SL Gold Edition

Unfortunately, for personal reasons, we have to part ways with our beloved motorhome "OTTO" and have switched to a caravan. Over the past 6 years and on more than 80 trips, it has never let us down—after all, it’s a Hymer, with build quality that’s hard to find these days.

We had the interior professionally modified to provide, for example, extra legroom in the toilet, and the ability to watch TV from both the cab and the bed.

Additionally, the vehicle is fully winterized, meaning you can set off on a trip immediately. The body features an impressive wall thickness of 9 cm (see photo), and both the grey water and the fresh water tanks are insulated.

A 330-watt solar panel has been installed on the roof, paired with a 110 Ah lithium battery in the living area, both fitted 6 years ago and still in excellent condition. The battery has only gone through 44 charge cycles; in theory, 500–1500 cycles are possible. Status of the charge controller and battery charge state can be monitored by smartphone.

Because the fridge also operates on gas, and a second toilet cassette is included, you can camp fully autonomously, anytime and anywhere. There is also an inflatable awning from Obelink designed to attach easily to the existing awning.

Due to its age, there are two minor cosmetic flaws:
- Small chips in the topcoat on the bonnet (estimate from paint shop: €500), but no rust or similar—just a visual issue.

- Two blackout blinds are defective; instead, we’ve fitted blackout curtains which actually do a better job than the original roller blinds. Of course, the fly screens still work perfectly.
