Due to the expansion of renewable energy sources such as offshore wind farms and their grid connection, there is a significant increase in network expansion. Instead of overhead lines, high-voltage cables with large conductor cross-sections are now laid underground. To enable the laying of the maximum possible cable lengths in a single section, cable manufacturers have started supplying cables on extra-wide drums, making installation with standard cable trailers unfeasible.

The BTT 131.80 cable drum transport trailer is hydraulically extendable. Its air suspension allows the trailer to be lowered laterally, adapting to drums positioned on slopes or in difficult terrain.

The U-shaped frame, open at the rear, makes it possible to use a modified towing triangle, housing the hydraulic cylinders responsible for the extension function.

Widening
The overall width of the trailer in the retracted position is 2550 mm in accordance with StVZO. On construction sites, the width can be extended up to a maximum of 4000 mm. The internal loading width thereby increases from 1690 mm to 3090 mm. (Dimensions may vary depending on trailer type). The drum drive is split and automatically extends along with the widening process.
