MERCEDES-BENZ 280 GE (GFG 460.2) lang Feuerwehr VRW *TÜV + H*

Original early second-hand fire brigade G, never previously used for civilian purposes.

Passed TÜV inspection and Historic appraisal (according to §23 StVZO) in September 2025.

MOT valid until 09/2027 (DEKRA inspection report: 'no defects found').

Year of manufacture: 1981 / First registration: 07-1981.

Original mileage just 29,800 km over more than 44 years of fire service.

Advance rescue vehicle (VRW) with ZIEGLER bodywork and Knurz-Kirsch 5 KVA generator.

German vehicle, supplied with original registration certificate (only 2 previous owners). Always registered and in service/garaged until 10/2025.

Vehicle manufacturer on original documents still listed as GFG "Geländefahrzeug-Gesellschaft"—a joint venture by Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria. This is one of the last vehicles with this manufacturer; shortly thereafter, "Daimler-Benz" was listed as manufacturer on registration papers.

According to a 1991 entry, a complete MATTER roll bar was installed and remains to this day.

The long 280 GE is the largest and most powerful model from the first G series, and was the top specification Mercedes G-Class model available from the factory in its early years.

Gross vehicle weight (originally 2900 kg) was increased in 1991 to 3030 kg.

Fitted with good winter tires with snowflake symbol to current legal standards (DOT 2018).

While the G does not have a trailer hitch, the required rear crossmember is installed. Retrofitting/towing capacity data not possible, since the relevant fields are marked "not applicable" in the original registration document.

The 280 GE has rightly been positively appraised as a classic vehicle and is officially recognized in Germany as an "automotive cultural asset".
